Tuesday in the Tour de France

Well, everything changed Tuesday on the slopes of the Col de la Madeleine, the final, massive climb of the stage - 25 km up, and then a crazy decent down the other side. Andy Schleck attacked and only Alberto Contador was able to match him. Eventually they managed to build up a nice cushion of time on everyone else. The 2010 Tour, it seems, is going to come down to those two.

Meanwhile, Cadel "Cuddles" Evans popped and lost time to just about everybody in the top 10. That puts Andy Schleck in yellow for now. But remember: he needs more time to make up for his weak time trial that will cost him time in the penultimate stage of the Tour. He'll try to get that time in the Pyrenees.

The battle for third place is also interesting. Cuddles could bounce back. American Levi Leipheimer (Lance's teammate and the new "leader" of the team) rode well and certainly has a shot. About a half-dozen other riders are also in the mix.

It was a fabulous day, worthy of the famous Cold de la Madeleine. The Tour at its most fascinating.
