The 2nd Annual-ish Insanity NCAA Rankings

For those of you who just about gave up on my promise of ranking every single team in Division I... gotcha suckas!! This year the rankings are even more insane, with 5 more D-I teams than last year!

A few notes on my method... I went conference by conference, taking a cursory look at each squad then giving them an approximate ranking out of 347. Afterward, I went back and shifted them around a bit. In short, it's highly unscientific, completely subjective, and borderline reckless journalism. In other words, it's classic Sports Sauna. I am, however, willing to GUARANTEE that 95% of the teams will be ranked accurately, +/-100. (In other words, I can only be off by more than 100 spots for 5% of the 328 teams.)

Here are the sources/facts I considered for the rankings, in order of importance:
1. My own knowledge (admittedly limited)
2. Results through Friday, January 9.
3. ESPN.com's college basketball team pages
4. Complete Blue Ribbon College Yearbook, courtesy ESPN.com
5. Google search

  • Tip: the best way to look up a particular team is using CTRL-F to search through the entire page.
  • Sometime soon I'll draw up a bracket based on my rankings, as well as rank the conferences.
  • Last year's ranking
  • Last year's pre-season bracket
  • Last year's reviewed ranking after the bracket was released in March.

1 North Carolina ACC BC loss was a fluke. This is the team to beat.
